Autonomous AI for skin cancer dermatology

“DERM is the only AI as a Medical Device for dermatology that can direct patient management and have a CE Class III approval”

Skin Analytics’ Class III CE marked AI as a Medical Device (AIaMD), DERM (Deep Ensemble for the Recognition of Malignancy), is built around a custom built teledermatology platform to help triage patients into the right place, at the right time and to conserve dermatologist capacity for patients who need it.

DERM safely triages patients with non-cancerous lesions away from cancer pathways, allowing dermatologists to focus on the patients that need them most.

Skin cancer referrals have nearly tripled over the last decade [1]. At the same time, 1 in 4 Consultant Dermatologist posts remain unfilled [2]. Despite sustained and considerable effort from dermatology departments, waitlists have doubled over the last half-decade and over 400,000 patients are waiting to be seen [3].

DERM is regulatory approved to rule out skin cancer from a dermoscopy or macroscopic photo alone thus offering the capability to:

Reduce dermatology waitlists and backlogs

Reduce unnecessary referrals and biopsies for patients with benign lesions

Free up GP and dermatologist capacity to focus on treatment

Speed up patient access to skin cancer diagnosis and treatment

Over 230,000 patients assessed across the UK

Since 2020, Skin Analytics has assessed over 230,000 NHS patients for suspicion of skin cancer, helping Secondary Care organisations remove the need for up to 95% of face-to-face NHS urgent suspected skin cancer appointments.

Clinical performance over time

We are the only CE Class III AI as a Medical Device for skin cancer and have pioneered a market-leading approach to performance monitoring for AI in clinical use.

We’re committed to providing the best technology and being completely transparent about our results.

This table is a summary of our performance since December 2023 up to Q3 2025 Post Market Surveillance Reports, with analysis based on 65,464 lesion outcomes

How do we set our performance targets?

Our performance targets are based on the highest clinical performance as published in the literature and agreed by our Clinical Advisory Committee ,which is composed of leading UK and international dermatologists and health economics experts.
